Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Teach patients that while they cannot control every aspect of the world around them, they can take control of how they interpret and deal with things in their environment. The therapy is commonly known as CBT. This therapy teaches the client to become aware and take note of destructive and unhealthy behaviours. EFT- Tapping
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) was founded by Gary Craig in 1995 and is an extension on Callahan’s work. Craig was an electrical engineer and he practiced as a life performance coach for some thirty years. He was a TFT student of Dr Callahan and he devised EFT as one stop protocol that covers a multitude of problems by virtue of the concept of total redundancy – tapping every point for every problem rather than a sequence of some points for a specific problem.
Thirteen meridian points are percussed/tapped in meridian psychotherapy the points and sequence of the percussion where developed by Gary Craig and is his classic EFT sequence and is the basic tool for this therapy. This arrangement of tapping all of the meridians except the liver meridian was far simpler than to develop a separate algorithm for each problem and has resulting in a more holistic healing approach. All meridian are treated in once sequence, it is fast and efficient and rarely fails. In the event of failure to cure the problem is usually because there are other factors at work in the subconscious mind, which when identified will allow for successful treatment of the issue.
Gary Craig is renowned for his contributions to the world through EFT, he hosts workshops and has a series of training videos. In 1998 he brought together numerous innovators of energy psychology at a workshop entitled “Steps to becoming the Ultimate Therapist”. The videos were made from these workshops and they provide invaluable insight into his methods.
Other trainers, writers and practitioners in this field are Fred Gallo author of Negative Affect Erasing Method (NAEM), Tapas Fleming who developed Tapas Acupressure Treatment (TAT) Larry Nims for Be Set Free Fast (BSFF).

Past Life Regression
Past life therapy (PLT) is a wonderful and fascinating therapy designed to help a person to look at their past lives as a way of determining if they are carrying karmic baggage and if they are repeating the same patterns in each life time. Many of us have illogical fears and phobias, we can’t remember why we have them but we do. Many phobias can be unresolved issues from a past life.
I had a problem where every time I went into a meditative state with a group of people I would start to feel like I was being strangled and could not breathe. From PLT I discovered that in many life times I had been murdered for being a witch. I had the same abilities I have in this life but in past lives people were not all that open to it. I was strangled in one life and in two other lives I was hung. It also explains why I was so scared to access my gifts in this life time.
PLT makes use of hypnosis during a treatment to allow the patient to completely relax. Hypnosis is a completely natural relaxed state which is achieved just before falling asleep or waking up. The mind is completely relaxed and open to suggestion during these periods. A more apt definition is “Hypnosis is a state of awareness dominated by the subconscious mind.”
Why is hypnosis valuable in past life regression?
Hypnosis is a valuable tool in past life regression because hypnosis allows the patient to enter an alternative or altered physiological state which allows them to be more receptive to the suggestion of inner discoveries and journeys. Also it allows you to be completely safe and detached during the treatment.
During the session the client will view two lives and look at what happened during these lives: who were the important people, who influenced these lives, what where pleasant and traumatic events. In the case of a traumatic event the patient will be allowed to look at the situation from a detached point of view and is taken through the event safely and allowed the time to heal and forgive people that where involved.
History
Past life therapy has been dated back to the Fourth Century BC to doctor and philosopher Patanjali. He taught how to recall past lives through meditation and yoga. In the early 1920’s PLT resurfaced with Albert de Rochas, who became one of the best known psychic researchers in late nineteenth century France. He was a prolific writer of mysticism and spiritualism. His interests centred on uncovering the laws behind psychic forces, somnambulism, magnetism and mesmerism, hypnotism, perception, and reincarnation. Past life therapist Dick Sutphen popularised therapeutic PLT in the early 1960’s. Public interest was further aroused by author Raymond Moody’s book “Life After Life” in which near-death experiences were discussed and in his next book “Coming Back” where he discussed nine of his past lives.
In 1978 Dr. Morris Netherton a practitioner with over 30 years of alternative health modalities introduced a method of PLT which does not involve hypnosis in his book “Past-Lives Therapy”. He was the first in his field to publish a book on this subject and has since published two other books on this subject. Netherton uses talk therapy; he isolates certain recurring phrases in a patient’s speech. He then repeats these phrases over and over until the patient can form a mental picture associated to the phrases. In this way patients are able to recall memories of the past that are associated to the phrases. The Netherton Method does not use hypnosis but still accesses hypnotic states which are associated to traumatic events of past lives, as well as in vitro memories that may cause patterns that affect the way a person currently reacts to circumstances.
Other people who contributed to PLT are Madame H.P. Blavatsky, the cofounder of the Theosophical Society, whom in essence was responsible for the reintroduction of reincarnation to the west. “The Book of the Spirits” published in 1857 by Allan Kardec introduces the idea of "spirits" who spoke through mesmerised patients about reincarnation and karma.
Dr Denys Kelsey, co-author with Joan Grant, published “Many Lifetimes” in 1967 which is the first book on PLT as we know it today. This book shows, with little doubt, that he was the first person to use regression. It focuses more on the therapeutic aspect of the technique than on anecdotal stories of relived experiences. The book triggered tussles between the predominantly spiritual and the developing scientific/clinical attitude towards the system of PLT.
Do you need to believe in reincarnation?
The belief in past lives is not necessary for the therapy to work. Even if you believe this is the only life you have the treatment can be beneficial on a soul level.
Can I be hypnotised against my will?
Hypnosis is a natural state which occurs when you fall asleep and no one can force you to attain a hypnotic state without your permission. A therapist facilitates you to achieve a hypnotic state.
Can I be forced to do something I don’t want to do?
Ethically a therapist is not allowed to force or suggest anything that is immoral. You can ask for the session to be taped if you are concerned. Your will is stronger than any suggestions that a therapist can give and if you truly don’t want to do something they cannot force you to do it.
Will I be aware and remember what has happened during the session?
During a PLT session you are more aware than when you are awake. It is simply another state of being and you can still hear everything around you. If there is an emergency you will be instantly alert and able to take action. You will remember what has been learnt during the session however, normally only what is valuable to this life will be clearly remembered. It feels almost like a dream and images may be fleeting.
